Itamar Ben-Gvir threatens Palestinian prisoner with death

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir released a video showing a confrontation with Palestinian prisoner Hassan Salameh, whom Ben-Gvir describes as a high-ranking Hamas member and associate of Yahya Sinwar. In the footage, Ben-Gvir tells Salameh, “I want to kill you, I want to sentence you to death.”

Ben-Gvir stated that if he were to serve as Minister of Defense in a future government, he would advocate for the execution of prisoners like Salameh. He also reiterated his support for policies promoting the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, often referred to by his party as “voluntary migration.”

Hamas responded to the video, stating that the threats against Salameh do not break the resolve of Palestinian prisoners and warn that such actions signal a rise in extrajudicial killings within the prison system. The movement characterized the minister's actions as a violation of international law.
