Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Dahlan bloc form Palestinian electoral alliance
Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and a political bloc led by former Fatah official Mohammed Dahlan have agreed to form an electoral coalition in preparation for Palestinian legislative elections. Mohammed Dahlan, who was exiled in 2010 following a rift with Abbas and maintains close ties to the United Arab Emirates, represents a significant political shift given his previous history with both Hamas and Fatah.
President Abbas has scheduled the parliamentary elections to take place on November 28 in both Gaza and the West Bank. However, the feasibility of these elections remains uncertain, as previous attempts to hold national votes have been repeatedly delayed, most recently in 2021.
