Hamburg begins construction of new Sternbrücke bridge
Construction is underway for the new Sternbrücke in the Altona district of Hamburg. The project involves replacing a nearly 100-year-old railway overpass that had reached the end of its technical lifespan. The new structure will be a modern, approximately 108-meter-long, column-free arch construction.
Due to the bridge's location at a major traffic junction and its status as one of Germany's most heavily used inner-city railway sections, the project presents significant logistical challenges. An association of companies including SEH Engineering, Himmel u. Papesch Bauunternehmung, and Fr. Holst is managing the construction. HKL BAUMASCHINEN is providing various rental products, including space systems, wheel loaders, excavators, aerial work platforms, and vehicles, to meet the evolving requirements of the different construction phases.
