Charity initiatives provide school supplies to disadvantaged children in Germany

Various charitable initiatives across Germany are providing school supplies to children from low-income families to ensure an equitable start to the new school year.

In Hamburg, the ‘Fairer Schulstart für alle Kinder’ campaign, a collaboration between Hanseatic Help, budni, Budnianer Hilfe, and several Rotary Clubs, has prepared 1,500 backpacks filled with new materials. This follows a donation drive that collected over 2,000 backpacks and bags. These supplies are being distributed through social institutions, including the Hamburg Tafel, refugee reception centers, and local schools.

Other regional efforts include a donation drive at the Spandau Arcaden in Berlin, where visitors can donate new school materials to be distributed by Sprühlinge e. V. to local families. In Bavaria, politicians Ralph Edelhäußer, Volker Bauer, and Karl Freller are organizing collections for the Rother Tafel and Lebenshilfe. Additionally, the Kinderlachen – Oldenburg e. V. association is using prize money to provide ergonomic backpacks to disadvantaged children in Oldenburg.

Nationwide, Kiwanis Clubs are supporting students by providing backpacks and high-visibility safety vests to improve road safety for young learners.
