Hamburg community volunteers and social projects recognized

In Hamburg, local initiatives and volunteers are being recognized for their contributions to the community. During the ninth Harburg Reception held at the Harburg Theater, the Harburg Citizen Prize was awarded to four individuals and projects. This prize, which includes 5,000 euros for community-promoting purposes, honors outstanding voluntary engagement and efforts to foster respectful, peaceful coexistence within the district.

Additionally, local profiles highlight individuals making a daily impact in the city. Among these is Peter Achner, who founded the “Rock Kids” association on St. Pauli. For over 20 years, his project has provided music to children aged six to 17, offering support and confidence through rock music regardless of their background. The association operates in schools, refugee shelters, and youth psychiatric facilities, reaching approximately 100 children weekly.
