Hamburg court begins trial for New Year's Eve U-Bahn attack
Four defendants, including two teenagers aged 17 and one who was 16 at the time of the incident, are appearing before the Hamburg District Court for attempted manslaughter. The charges stem from a violent confrontation on New Year's Eve at the Lübecker Straße U-Bahn station.
The incident reportedly began as a dispute between the group of four and two men on a U1 train. The conflict escalated when the group moved to the station platform. During the attack, a 21-year-old defendant allegedly struck a 33-year-old man in the head with such force that the victim lost consciousness and required resuscitation. All four defendants are Afghan nationals.
