Hamburg court begins trial for teen accused of school stabbing

A trial has commenced at the Hamburg Landgericht involving a 16-year-old defendant accused of attempted manslaughter and causing grievous bodily harm. The case stems from a March incident at the Flottbek district school, where a 13-year-old boy was stabbed five times in the head and upper body.

The victim may require lifelong nursing care due to the severity of the injuries. The prosecution alleges the defendant drew a knife during a physical altercation and repeatedly stabbed the victim. Because the defendant is a minor, the proceedings are being held behind closed doors.
