Hamburg handball shows strength in youth beach and professional leagues
Hamburg continues to demonstrate strength in both beach and indoor handball. In beach handball, youth players from the 2010 and 2011 age groups have gained significant attention from the German Handball Association (DHB). Notable talents include Felix Klein, Noa Strache, Matteo Kässner, and Nick Bessert for the boys, while Eve Flohr, Xenia Schmidt, Jonna Wiebers, Marla Siebken, and Mia Wenglewski have been invited to DHB training camps. Marla Siebken notably won a bronze medal representing Germany at the European Championships.
In the regional championships, the Hamburg girls' team secured third place, while the girls' team also earned second place at the German Club Championships in Geislingen. The boys' team secured bronze at the same event.
In professional indoor handball, Handball Club Hamburg (HCH) suffered a narrow 31:32 defeat against FRISCH AUF! Göppingen. Despite a strong performance and efforts from Martin Hovde, who scored seven goals, HCH was unable to overcome the deficit in the final minutes. The team is scheduled to face SG Flensburg-Handewitt on September 20.
