Hamburg Mayor Peter Tschentscher to visit Vietnam and China

Hamburg Mayor Peter Tschentscher is traveling to Vietnam and China to expand economic and scientific cooperation. Accompanied by a 30-member delegation, including Liv Assmann and Christopher Schwieger, the trip focuses on strengthening ties in maritime, aviation, and academic sectors.

In Vietnam, Tschentscher is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng in Hanoi. He will also open the ‘German Business Forum Vietnam 2026’ in Ho Chi Minh City, which aims to highlight investment perspectives and facilitate new business contacts. His itinerary includes visits to the Cat Lai port and the Saigon Campus of the Kühne Logistics University and the Vietnamese-German University.

In Shanghai, the Mayor will meet with city representatives and discuss business opportunities within the maritime and aviation industries. The visit also marks the 40th anniversary of the Hamburg-Shanghai sister city partnership, which will be celebrated with a special exhibition at the Shanghai History Museum and a formal reception.
