Hamburg opens Ökotarium environmental campus
Hamburg has officially opened the Ökotarium, a modern environmental campus designed for science and sustainable learning. Located at Hemmingstedter Weg, the facility replaces the former Center for School Biology and Environmental Education (ZSU) following a three-year construction period.
The campus serves as an extracurricular learning site for education for sustainable development (BNE). It aims to provide students of all ages with hands-on experience in natural sciences, environmental protection, climate protection, and biodiversity. The facility is part of the State Institute for Qualification and Quality Development in Schools (LI) and supports the city's STEM strategy by allowing students to deepen classroom knowledge through practical application.
