Hamburg opens new community spaces for circular economy and coworking

New community-focused spaces have opened in Hamburg to promote circular economy practices and collaborative working.

In the Winterhude district, the Goldbekhaus has launched ‘Teilen & Schrauben’ (Share & Screw). Located in a former basement storage room, the space is designed as a neighborhood hub for repairing, sharing, and DIY activities. The initiative aims to make circular economy concepts tangible through workshops, repair cafés, and community exchange. It also serves as a local meeting point for the INTERREG project ‘Circ@Home’, connecting households and local services.

In the Altona district, the ‘Neues Amt Altona’ is officially opening in a former tax office building. Operating as a cooperative, the space functions as a coworking hub for creatives and volunteers. Members of the cooperative can own a fraction of the building by purchasing shares, providing them with discounted rates and dedicated workspaces. The facility is intended to serve as a center for local engagement and creativity.
