Hamburg police arrest woman for attempted murder via poisoned chocolates
Authorities in Hamburg have arrested a 42-year-old woman suspected of attempting to murder her former partner's 20-year-old son by sending him poisoned chocolates. The package, which arrived in June, contained pralines laced with a potentially lethal combination of narcotics. The young man became suspicious of the contents and alerted the police. During a subsequent search of the suspect's apartment in Altona-Altstadt, investigators discovered dangerous chemicals, requiring the intervention of specialized fire department teams.
Separately, the Hamburg Dungeon has announced a new special show titled ‘Die Engelmacherin - the silent children’. Scheduled to run from October 1 to November 1 in the Speicherstadt district, the production dramatizes the historical 1903 criminal case of Elisabeth Wiese, a midwife accused of being responsible for the disappearance of children in the St. Pauli area.
