Hamburg police seek suspect in senior fraud case
The Hamburg police have launched a public search for a man, aged about 20 to 30, who in June 2025 posed as a bank employee and a police officer to defraud a senior citizen in the Stellingen district. The suspect obtained the victim’s bank cards and withdrew a low four‑digit amount of euros from the account. Video surveillance and eyewitness images captured the suspect, described as slim, with a beard, glasses, and an eye‑catching baseball cap, wearing a dark jeans, white T‑shirt and dark sneakers. A judge, at the request of the state prosecutor, ordered the release of his photograph to aid the investigation. Police also suspect the same individual of similar frauds in the nearby districts of Rahlstedt and Schnelsen. They ask anyone with information to contact the Hamburg police tip line at 040 4286‑56789.
