Hamburg Police undergoes leadership changes as top officials depart
The Hamburg Police is undergoing a significant leadership transition. Police Vice President Mirko Streiber is retiring after a 43-year career that began in the middle service in 1983. Streiber, who previously led the State Criminal Police Office and served as a police spokesperson, will be succeeded by Timo Zill, the former head of the protection police.
Additionally, Hamburg Police President Falk Schnabel has announced his resignation. Schnabel is leaving his position for personal reasons to return to North Rhine-Westphalia. During his three-year tenure, Schnabel was noted for modernizing police work and balancing public safety with the protection of fundamental rights. His departure has been described by local political representatives as a significant loss for the city.
