Hamburg road closures extended due to construction and pipe damage
Major traffic disruptions continue in Hamburg as road closures at Sternbrücke and Amsinckstraße face new delays and adjustments.
At Sternbrücke, Deutsche Bahn has extended the full closure of Max-Brauer-Allee between Schulterblatt and Stresemannstraße until October 30. The delay follows the discovery that sections of newly laid asphalt must be replaced due to rain and temperature fluctuations during installation. Following the asphalt replacement, additional road marking work is required. For safety reasons, the closure will remain in place until these works are completed. Cyclists must continue using the detour via Oelkersallee, and while residents may drive near the construction site, parking remains prohibited.
On Amsinckstraße, authorities have adjusted traffic management following a severe water pipe burst on September 30 that undermined the roadway. To alleviate congestion, new time-based lane regulations have been implemented. From 6:00 to 12:00, two lanes will be available heading toward the city center, while from 12:00 to 6:00, three lanes will be open heading out of the city. Sanatory works on Amsinckstraße are expected to continue until mid-December.
