Hamburg school staff councils protest planned budget cuts

In Hamburg, over 200 school staff council members gathered at the Curiohaus for a GEW conference to protest planned Senate austerity measures. The participants expressed significant concern regarding budget cuts affecting all-day schooling, school assistance services, and substitute teaching.

Through a formal resolution titled ‘Education is not a savings mass – stop cuts!’, the council called on the Senate and Parliament to halt planned reductions and reverse existing cuts. The group also demanded negotiations regarding working hour regulations, specifically addressing the 41-hour work week and time tracking.
