Hamburg student cafeteria prices remain stable for winter semester

Prices for meals at student cafeterias in Hamburg will not increase for the upcoming winter semester. According to a spokesperson for the Studierendenwerk Hamburg (STWHH), the previous price adjustment in April 2026 only affected specific peripheral items, such as products outside the regular menu and rates for guests and employees.

The vegan “Pottkieker” menu line will remain at 2.20 euros per meal. Other standard dishes in the cafeterias are priced between 2.60 euros and 6.50 euros, while salad, pasta, and vegetable bars cost 90 cents per 100 grams.

While food and energy costs led to an average price increase of approximately six percent at the beginning of 2025, the city of Hamburg provided additional financial support to stabilize prices during 2023 and 2024. The STWHH currently operates 11 cafeterias, 20 cafes, and two pizzerias in the city.
