Hamburg water supply disrupted by major pipe bursts

Major water pipe bursts in Hamburg have caused significant disruptions to the city's drinking water supply and local infrastructure. Two primary incidents were identified: one on Amsinckstraße and another on Fuhlsbüttler Straße.

The burst on Amsinckstraße resulted in a sharp drop in pressure affecting the Neustadt and St. Pauli districts. The incident also caused a section of a street and sidewalk to collapse. Meanwhile, the rupture on Fuhlsbüttler Straße impacted the Ohlsdorf, Winterhude, Barmbek, and Marienthal areas, leading to road closures and flooding in several basements and underground parking garages.

Emergency services, including the fire department and the Technical Relief Agency (THW), were deployed to manage the situation. While the disruption affected multiple districts including Eilbek and HafenCity, authorities reported that water pressure was gradually recovering. The official warning from the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) has been lifted.
