Hamburg woman arrested for attempting to poison ex-partner's son with chocolates
A 42-year-old woman in Hamburg, Germany, has been arrested and placed in pre-trial detention following an attempt to poison her former partner's son.
In early June, the suspect sent a package of chocolates via mail to the victim, a man in his twenties. The chocolates were laced with thallium nitrate, a heavy metal that can cause damage to the kidneys and nervous system and is potentially fatal. The victim became suspicious of the contents and alerted the police, leading to the woman's arrest on Wednesday, September 23.
