Hamburger SV loses 2-3 test match to Rapid Wien in Vienna

On 18 July 2026 the German club Hamburger SV played a pre‑season friendly against Austrian side Rapid Wien at the Allianz Stadium in Vienna. Rapid won 3‑2, with Ercan Kara scoring twice (3′ and 35′) and a header from Jonas Auer in the 36th minute. HSV’s goals came from Yussuf Poulsen (16′) and Albert Grönbaek (24′).

Six HSV teenagers – Louis Lemke (16), Elias Lahti (17), Thierry Sedlatschek (17), Jannes von Diczelski (17), Jason Bissi‑Mouelle (18) and Shafiq Nandja (19) – featured, highlighting the club’s focus on youth development. Approximately 12 000 tickets were sold, with about 1 000 HSV supporters travelling to Vienna.

The match was streamed live on HSV’s YouTube channel and broadcast in Austria on ORF Sport+; German viewers could watch a live ticker. After the game the squad headed to a week‑long training camp in Oberlängenfeld, Tirol, before returning to Hamburg for the Bundesliga season.
