Hamelin-Laie school expands MIT partnership to boost STEAM education

The Hamelin‑Laie school, part of the Nord Anglia Education network, has deepened its collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Teacher Marc Oliana took part in MIT’s Professional Development Week, working alongside international faculty and attending sessions on climate change, bioengineering, space exploration and emerging technologies.

An outstanding student from Hamelin‑Laie will travel to MIT this autumn to join collaborative projects with peers from the Nord Anglia network. The partnership also supports practical classroom projects, such as a Mars‑filter design developed with former astronaut and MIT professor Jeff Hoffman, aiming to bring real‑world challenges into STEAM learning and foster interdisciplinary problem‑solving.

The initiative seeks to prepare students for a rapidly changing labour market by integrating hands‑on, research‑driven experiences into the curriculum.
