Hamid Yorulmaz case: Mother arrested in biological father search
An investigation has been launched into the case of 18-year-old Hamid Yorulmaz, who sought help on a television program to find his biological father to facilitate a life-saving stem cell transplant for thalassemia.
Following a DNA test that revealed Mehmet Sağbaş, the man who raised him, is not his biological father, Hamid alleged that his family had been concealing his true parentage. The Torbalı Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated a formal investigation into several offenses, including changing a child's lineage, violation of obligations arising from family law, failure to assist or notify, and threats.
As a result of the investigation, Hamid's mother, Nihal Beyit, was arrested, while his uncle, Mehmet Yorulmaz, was released under judicial control. Authorities are currently searching for the biological father, who is reportedly known by the nickname ‘Sakallı Hamid’ and resides outside of Izmir.
