Hamid Yorulmaz seeks biological father for bone marrow transplant
Hamid Yorulmaz, an 18-year-old suffering from congenital thalassemia (Mediterranean anemia), is searching for his biological father to secure a life-saving bone marrow transplant.
The medical necessity for the search surfaced when Yorulmaz entered a coma at age 13. During testing for a potential donor within his family, a DNA test revealed that the man he believed was his father was not his biological parent. Following this discovery, Yorulmaz reported being rejected by the family that raised him and being cast out by his mother, Nihal Beyit.
Yorulmaz, who currently requires regular blood transfusions, stated that his chances of successful treatment decrease after age 19. He estimates he has approximately six months to find a compatible donor to undergo the necessary surgery.
