Hamidovic family faces trial in Paris for organized theft and exploitation

A Paris court has heard the case of the Hamidovic family, a Bosnian clan accused of operating a criminal network that forced minors and young women to commit thefts. Prosecutors have requested prison sentences ranging from five to nine years for the seven defendants.

The network allegedly targeted tourists at locations such as Roissy Airport, Disneyland Paris, and RER train platforms. The stolen goods were reportedly handed over to male clan members, with daily proceeds averaging 25,000 euros. While the victims lived in hardship, the ringleaders allegedly maintained a luxurious lifestyle, displaying wealth on social media.

Prosecutors requested the heaviest sentence of nine years in prison and an 800,000 euro fine for the patriarch, Roberto Hamidovic. His wife, Lejla Hamidovic, faces a requested sentence of seven years and a 200,000 euro fine. Other family members face between five and seven years in prison. The prosecution is also seeking a permanent ban on all defendants from French territory. The charges include human trafficking, organized theft, corruption of minors, money laundering, and criminal association.
