Hamilton County begins Hazel Dell bridge demolition and roundabout construction

Hamilton County officials are beginning major infrastructure reconstruction following historic flooding along the White River in August. Next week, crews will start demolishing the damaged Hazel Dell bridge. This project is part of a broader effort to rebuild more resilient systems, including repairing water mains and addressing issues with Blue Woods Creek, which reversed course during the river crest.

In a related development for the Hazel Dell Parkway corridor, Hamilton County commissioners have hired Gradex for a $39.9 million project to construct a new roundabout at 146th Street and Hazel Dell Road. This project, which sits on the border of Carmel and Noblesville, is scheduled to begin this fall and continue through 2029. The initiative aims to improve safety and reduce congestion in an area known for high crash rates, supported by $8.7 million from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization.
