Hamilton infrastructure projects advance with new roads and signals

Infrastructure developments are progressing in Hamilton, New Zealand. The completion of Whatukooruru Drive has unlocked land for thousands of future homes in the Peacocke growth area, marking the early conclusion of the Peacocke Housing Infrastructure Fund programme.

In Te Rapa, Foodstuffs North Island has completed the installation of new traffic signals at the intersection of Wairere Drive and Karewa Place. The upgrade, required as part of the resource consent for a new PAK’nSAVE supermarket, allows for a right turn into Karewa Place from Wairere Drive. This change is designed to facilitate access to the upcoming supermarket. Further construction for a roundabout at the intersection of Eagle Way and Karewa Place is scheduled to begin in September 2026.
