Hamilton Mourão predicts political amnesty pact in Brazil

Senator Hamilton Mourão has predicted a potential political arrangement in Brazil involving a broad amnesty for those involved in the attempted coup d'état. Mourão suggests this deal might also include the Senate abandoning impeachment proceedings against members of the Supreme Federal Court (STF).

Mourão compared this potential scenario to the 1979 legislative arrangement that granted amnesty to political prisoners while ensuring impunity for state agents during the military regime. While he views such institutional pacts as a common historical pattern in Brazil, he stated that he does not intend to lead or support any amnesty proposals in the Senate.
