Hamirpur students protest for paved road to school
Students in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, staged a protest at the District Magistrate’s office to demand a paved road to their school. Carrying the Indian national flag, the children and their parents marched approximately five kilometers to the collectorate, protesting the mud and swamp-like conditions that make the route unusable during the monsoon season.
Local residents reported that previous attempts to fix the road with soil were washed away by rain. The protest, described as a movement by the ‘Gen Alpha’ generation, resulted in an assurance from officials that a new road will be constructed at a cost of approximately 1.81 crore rupees, following the receipt of a No Objection Certificate from the Forest Department.
In a separate incident in Khatima, Uttarakhand, approximately 400 students at a government residential school protested against poor food quality, contaminated water, and unsanitary toilet conditions. In response to the unrest, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami ordered the removal of the school principal.
