Hamiso Tabuai‑Fidow pledges to stay with Dolphins in NRL

Indigenous flyer Hamiso Tabuai‑Fidow has confirmed that he will remain with the Dolphins and finish his career in the National Rugby League, saying he has no intention of returning to Australian rules football or rugby union. He highlighted his commitment during the club’s Indigenous Round jersey launch for the Battle of Brisbane.

Tabuai‑Fidow, 24, came through the Gold Coast Suns academy, earned a scholarship to Brisbane Grammar, and spent time in the Queensland Reds academy before signing with the North Queensland Cowboys and later the Dolphins. His current contract runs until the end of 2027, after which he will be free to negotiate from 1 November. He reiterated that he is “a league player for life” and prefers to stay in Redcliffe.

The player’s decision underscores his focus on rugby league despite earlier speculation about a possible switch to the AFL or union, and it removes any immediate cross‑code transfer speculation for the upcoming season.
