Hamm Canal Renewal Completed as Schleswig-Holstein Road Renovation Begins

The Lippeverband has finished the final section of a 1,000‑metre canal renewal in Bockum‑Hövel, Hamm. The project, which began in April 2025, involved replacing mixed‑water, drainage and drinking‑water pipes, rebuilding a mixed‑water collector and upgrading utility lines. Investment of about €2.6 million kept the work on schedule, with the streets reopened for traffic and pedestrians directed to the opposite sidewalk.

Meanwhile, the Landesbetrieb Straßen, Brücken und Gewässer (LSBG) will start work on the Bergstedter Chaussee between Vogtredder and Heinrich‑von‑Ohlendorff‑Straße on 5 August 2026. The 550‑metre stretch will see the road surface, sidewalks and adjacent areas refurbished, barrier‑free bus stops installed, drainage modernised and temporary traffic lights added. Completion is planned for May 2027, with traffic‑safety measures such as provisional signals and weight limits for heavy vehicles.
