Hammamet International Festival Marks 60th Anniversary with Female-Led Opening and Closing
The Festival International de Hammamet announced its 60th edition, scheduled for 11 July–13 August 2026. The program features 32 artistic proposals, of which 14 (43.8%) are Tunisian productions, including four theatre works, one choreography and nine musical pieces. A co‑production with Morocco, “Aïta Mon Amour,” pairs Moroccan rapper Widad Mjama with Tunisian producer Khalil Epi.
The opening ceremony, titled “Les Fugitives,” is staged by Tunisian director Wafa Taboubi and celebrates Tunisian women, while the closing night on 13 August – coinciding with International Women’s Day – will be led by singer Soufia Sadok. The theme for the anniversary is “Endless Memories.” International participants hail from Morocco, Spain, Cuba, the United States, Mali, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Palestine and Lebanon, reflecting the festival’s broad Mediterranean and global outreach.
