Hammer Horror franchise sees resurgence through film restoration and book re-release

The Hammer Horror franchise is experiencing a revival following the 4K restoration and re-premiere of the 1958 film Dracula. Attendees of the Academy’s recent screening reported that the restoration features excellent color and smoothly integrated footage, including destruction scenes from the Japanese version. The restoration reportedly maintains the original 1958 Universal International logo.

In addition to the film restoration, a novelization of four Hammer films from the studio’s Golden Age has been re-released. This new edition includes an introduction by Stephen Gallagher and an afterword by Ramsey Campbell. The collection covers The Gorgon (1964), The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), The Revenge of Frankenstein (1957), and The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb (1964).
