Hammerfestingen shifts to fully digital news model

Hammerfestingen, a local newspaper in Norway, has announced a transition to a fully digital format. The decision follows significant digital growth, with the publication reporting a 24.7 percent increase in digital subscriptions compared to the previous year.

Editor-in-chief Arne Reginiussen stated that the shift aims to prioritize local journalism over the costs associated with printing and physical distribution. Currently, only approximately 90 subscribers remain who exclusively use the print edition. By moving away from paper, the outlet intends to reinvest resources into real-time news coverage and enhanced local reporting for the Hammerfest community.
