Hammersbach council transfers Langen-Bergheim water supply to municipal company

The Hammersbach municipal council has unanimously decided to transfer the water supply in Langen-Bergheim to Kreiswerke Main-Kinzig via a concession contract. The SPD faction supported the move, noting that because Kreiswerke Main-Kinzig is a municipal company, the water supply remains under communal control rather than being handed over to a private corporation.

The decision aims to ensure long-term security and professional management of drinking water. Officials cited increasing technical requirements, groundwater protection, and crisis preparedness as reasons why a small, independent supply is no longer sufficient. Connecting to a larger network is expected to provide greater stability during technical failures or emergencies.
