HammondCare acquires Anglicare Sydney’s community home‑care business
HammondCare announced it will acquire Anglicare Sydney’s community‑based home‑care operations, covering Greater Sydney, the Illawarra and New England regions. The deal will transfer roughly 1,800 Support at Home clients and more than 1,400 Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) clients to HammondCare, making the not‑for‑profit provider one of the largest home‑care organisations in Australia.
The acquisition, subject to regulatory approval, is slated for completion by 2 November 2026. Both organisations said continuity of care is a priority, with many Anglicare staff expected to move to HammondCare alongside the clients they support. CEOs Andrew Thorburn (HammondCare) and Simon Miller (Anglicare Sydney) highlighted that the new Support at Home program emphasizes scale, and the merger aligns with HammondCare’s “Next Chapter” strategy to expand services for people with complex care needs.
