Hampshire police commissioner criticizes lack of investigation into Treloar blood scandal

Hampshire’s police and crime commissioner, Donna Jones, has expressed significant frustration over the lack of a criminal investigation into the infected blood scandal linked to Lord Mayor Treloar College in Alton. Despite formal requests and victims providing statements to police regarding their experiences with hepatitis A, C, and HIV, no official investigation has been opened.

Jones described the delay as a “disgrace” and a “travesty,” noting that victims are aging and in declining health. The Chief Constable has reportedly declined to launch a local investigation while awaiting a review by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), which is tasked with determining the direction for a potential national police investigation into the scandal.
