Hampshire transport hubs to receive £950,000 in upgrades
Hampshire County Council has approved a £950,000 programme to upgrade bus stations, shelters, and transport hubs across the region. The investment aims to improve the passenger experience in areas that have lacked recent funding.
Of the total budget, £600,000 is designated for improvements to bus stations and hubs, including new passenger information screens, replacement shelters, seating, lighting, and CCTV. An additional £350,000 will be used to enhance connections between bus and rail services through better signage and passenger information.
Key beneficiaries include Alton, Farnborough, and Aldershot. Havant is set to receive significant upgrades to its shelters, CCTV, and lighting, while Winchester and Eastleigh will receive new real-time departure screens. Other locations slated for improvements include Andover, Basingstoke, Fareham, Gosport, Romsey, Hythe, Lymington, Ringwood, Totton, and Waterlooville.
