Hamza Abdelkarim faces tactical demands at Barcelona and tension with Egypt coach

Hamza Abdelkarim, an 18-year-old Egyptian forward for FC Barcelona, is emerging as a significant prospect for the club. Following a successful period with the Juvenil A team and a strong pre-season, the club exercised its purchase option and extended his contract until 2030, setting a release clause of 150 million euros. Sporting director Deco views him as a key future asset, though manager Hansi Flick has emphasized that the player must improve his tactical understanding and defensive work rate to earn more consistent minutes in the first team.

On the international stage, the young striker has faced friction with Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan. Despite having limited playing time with Barcelona's senior squad, Abdelkarim has reportedly expressed frustration over his limited role in recent matches, including Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and friendlies. He has already made his official debut for Barcelona and has scored for the Egyptian national team.
