Hamza Abdelkarim makes historic Barcelona debut

Hamza Abdelkarim, an 18-year-old Egyptian forward, made his competitive first-team debut for FC Barcelona during a 5-2 La Liga victory against Rayo Vallecano at Spotify Camp Nou. Entering the match in the 86th minute to replace Raphinha, Abdelkarim became the first Egyptian player to represent Barcelona’s men’s senior team in a competitive fixture.

The debut follows a strong pre-season performance where Abdelkarim was the club’s leading scorer with four goals. Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick praised the youngster’s attitude and mentality, noting that he had earned the opportunity to play.

Abdelkarim, who joined Barcelona on loan from Al Ahly before making the move permanent, expressed his excitement following the match, describing the experience as a “very intense feeling.” He also offered praise for teammates Raphinha and Lamine Yamal during post-match comments.
