Hanau establishes new Social Services department
The city of Hanau has established a new department for Social Services, led by Martin Berg. The department was introduced by Mayor Dr. Maximilian Bieri and City Councilor Andreas Jäger.
This new organizational unit aims to integrate social services, including the job center, youth welfare, and schools, to create a more cohesive support system. The restructuring follows Hanau gaining district-free status on January 1, 2026, providing the city with greater autonomy to implement tailored social and labor market policies. A key focus of the department will be the ‘House around professional life,’ located near the main station, which facilitates cooperation between various employment and social support actors.
