Hanau supports fruit tree initiative to promote biodiversity
The city of Hanau is continuing its support for the fruit tree ordering campaign organized by the Landschaftspflegeverband Main-Kinzig. To promote biodiversity and regional fruit varieties, interested parties can order high-stem fruit trees and wild fruit varieties until September 20.
Since 2016, more than 1,750 trees have been distributed through this initiative, providing habitats and food for various animal species. This year, the ordering process has moved online via the association's website. The selection has also expanded to include quince varieties alongside traditional fruit and wild fruit options.
Each high-stem fruit tree costs 50.50 euros, which includes a robinia wood stake, coconut cord binding material, and protection against wildlife browsing. Ordered trees can be collected on November 7 at the municipal green space office depot.
