Hanau–Wächtersbach railway closed for upgrades from July 3‑6, 2026

Deutsche Bahn will close the rail line between Hanau and Wächtersbach in both directions from Friday 3 July 2026 21:00 until Monday 6 July 2026 05:00. The shutdown enables round‑the‑clock construction of a four‑track expansion, including new retaining walls, under‑track passages, renewed overhead lines and track‑bed works aimed at reducing future passenger disruptions.

During the closure regional services RE50 and RB51 are cancelled and replaced by bus services labelled RE50E and RB51E. Bus journeys will be longer, may not accept bicycles, and longer travel times should be expected, especially for events in nearby Frankfurt. Long‑distance trains are rerouted. Information on replacement timetables will be available from 26 June, and inquiries can be sent to hanau‑fulda@deutschebahn.com. The project is part of the Germany‑Tick and the Frankfurt RheinMain plus programme.
