Handball-Bundesliga season opens with wins for THW Kiel and Füchse Berlin

The 2026/27 Handball-Bundesliga season has commenced with notable victories for major clubs. THW Kiel secured a 35:27 home win against TBV Lemgo Lippe in their opening match. Under new head coach Börge Lund, the record champions relied on strong performances from goalkeeper Andreas Wolff, who made 14 saves, and new signing Domen Makuc to secure the victory.

Füchse Berlin also earned a win in their season opener, defeating MT Melsungen 33:31. Despite a significant second-half comeback attempt by Melsungen, Berlin maintained their lead. Matthes Langhoff was the standout performer for the Berlin side, scoring nine goals, while goalkeeper Andreas Palicka provided crucial saves to help the team secure the win.

TBV Lemgo Lippe, despite the loss to Kiel, saw individual contributions from Joël Willecke, who scored eight goals. The season marks a period of transition for several clubs, including Kiel, which is aiming to return to international competition following a period of missing European qualification.
