Handball Champions League lacks French TV deal for 2026/27 season

The handball Champions League currently lacks a traditional television broadcasting agreement in France for the upcoming 2026/27 season. Following the expiration of Eurosport’s agreement with the EHF, no French broadcaster has yet secured the rights to the tournament.

If a deal is not reached, French viewers will have to rely on EHF TV, a subscription service costing 7.99 euros per month. This alternative would mean matches are not directly accessible via smart TVs or set-top boxes, and commentary would be provided in English. This situation differs from the coverage of the French domestic league, where beIN Sports will continue to broadcast major matches from the Starligue and the top women’s league.

Negotiations may continue until September 5, coinciding with the start of the women’s Champions League. The tournament remains highly popular, with the previous season attracting nearly 600,000 spectators across 128 matches.
