Handwerkskammer Freiburg holds math intensive courses for apprentices

The Handwerkskammer Freiburg organized two intensive mathematics courses during the summer holidays to support aspiring apprentices in the trades. The initiative, held at the Gewerbe Akademie Freiburg, aimed to address gaps in fundamental mathematical knowledge caused by school difficulties, language barriers, or long periods since the last formal math instruction.

Supported by the Wilhelm Oberle-Stiftung, the program provided tailored instruction for 14 participants across different skill levels. Following initial placement tests, instructors provided individualized support to ensure apprentices are better prepared for the precision required in various manual trades. The participating training companies also supported the apprentices during these one-week courses. Cathrin von Essen, a board member of the Wilhelm Oberle-Stiftung, expressed interest in continuing the partnership with the Handwerkskammer Freiburg in the coming year.
