Handwerkskammer Reutlingen reports business growth and craft winners

The Handwerkskammer Reutlingen district has reported growth in its craft sector and announced the winners of the 2026 German Craft Skills championship. As of June 30, 2026, the number of registered businesses in the region increased from 13,990 at the start of the year to 14,073, marking a net gain of 83 establishments despite high fluctuation. The growth was driven by 793 new entries against 710 departures, with notable strength in non-regulated trades such as building cleaners and photographers.

In conjunction with this economic activity, the chamber honored 77 apprentices for their achievements in the regional craft championships. The awardees represent a wide range of professions, including brewers, mechatronics technicians, bookbinders, and even specialized roles like metal wind instrument makers. Officials noted that the results demonstrate high-quality vocational training and a diverse workforce, highlighting that women are increasingly securing top positions in traditionally male-dominated fields like masonry and technical trades.
