Hangzhou graduates face rental housing and deposit issues

Recent reports highlight the difficulties faced by young graduates seeking affordable housing in Hangzhou, China. One individual, a 22-year-old graduate from Anhui, experienced significant issues after renting a room for 2,000 NDT per month through an independent broker. The rental unit suffered from ceiling leaks during rain, but the broker failed to arrange repairs despite initial promises. When the tenant attempted to terminate the contract, the broker refused to refund the security deposit.

Other graduates in the region are also struggling with high costs. Some find that single rooms near workplaces exceed 3,000 NDT per month, forcing them to seek smaller spaces within shared apartments to manage living expenses.
