Hangzhou woman stopped from cash fraud after police intervene

Police in Lam Binh district, Hangzhou, China intervened when a woman identified as Chen attempted to withdraw a large sum of cash from a bank. Chen had been contacted on a social‑media platform by someone claiming to be an old school friend who offered a high‑return “internal investment” opportunity. Believing the offer, she prepared 100,000 CNY (about 350 million VND) and went to the bank to withdraw the money. The local anti‑fraud centre received a warning about a possible telecom fraud victim and dispatched officers to the bank. Officer Shen Lujie observed Chen’s suspicious behavior, questioned her, and confirmed she was likely being scammed. The police secured Chen’s safety before she could leave the bank, preventing the fraud from proceeding.
