Hankook Tire wins two awards at 2026 IDEA Design Awards

Hankook Tire & Technology has received two awards at the 2026 IDEA Design Awards, organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). The company was recognized in two distinct categories: Social Impact Design and Concept Design.

In the Social Impact Design category, the company won for its ‘re:move’ upcycling project. Developed in collaboration with Seoul National University’s Disco Lab, the project utilizes ‘bladders’—byproducts from the tire manufacturing process—to create furniture, bricks, and lifestyle goods. This project has previously earned accolades from the Red Dot Design Award, the A' Design Award, and the Green Good Design Award.

In the Concept Design category, the company was honored for ‘WheelBot2,’ a spherical modular robotic wheel system. Designed for future mobility in smart cities and autonomous driving environments, WheelBot2 features a three-axis drive system and internal motors that allow for 360-degree omnidirectional movement and precise control in confined spaces.
