Hanmi Pharmaceutical to produce documentary on obesity drug Epe

Hanmi Pharmaceutical is producing a documentary titled ‘H. O. P (Hanmi Obesity Pipeline) Documentary-style Brand Film’ to chronicle the development of ‘Epe’ (efpeglenatide), South Korea’s first domestic GLP-1 obesity drug scheduled for release in the second half of this year.

The documentary highlights the drug’s journey, specifically how Hanmi Pharmaceutical continued development using its own technology and clinical experience after the rights were returned following a change in a global partner’s business strategy. The film will feature key executives, including Hanmi Group Vice Chair Lim Ju-hyun, to discuss the company’s R&D philosophy and its commitment to metabolic disease innovation.

Epe utilizes Hanmi’s proprietary ‘LAPSCOVERY’ platform technology. The company aims to expand its obesity pipeline to include treatments that minimize muscle loss and integrate digital convergence medicine to lead global paradigms in obesity treatment.
